More Physicians Now Hospital System Employees

Feb 14th, 2014

Ongoing changes to healthcare, like the push to form networks of physicians and services, lowered reimbursement, and the focus on patient outcomes has resulted in the closure of independent practices, or their sale to larger healthcare systems.  Often, those practices had trouble keeping up with expensive requirements as reimbursement from public and private payors decreased.  Many physicians then, are making the transition to salaried employee positions with large systems.  As a recent article in the New York Times points out, those physicians welcome the guaranteed income, and the security of their medical practice.  However, those positions are frequently associated with significant pay cuts, as well as increased responsibilities like call duty and meeting quotas, and decreased freedom.

For physicians wishing to regain their autonomy without the overhead of private practice, Inspire Medical is an excellent practice opportunity.  Our physicians enjoy the ability to set their own schedules, enjoy their free time, and get back to the basics of providing medical care.  Contact us today to join our team!
