Opioid prescribing in Kentucky: required CME

Feb 21st, 2013

House Bill 1 states that all physicians must complete 4.5 hours of activity related to KASPER, pain management, or addiction disorders.  So far, the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure has approved only one activity that fulfills the CME requirement.

Physicians must read Responsible Opioid Prescribing: a Clinician's Guide, 2nd edition and complete an online test using a code contained in the book.  The book, published by the Federation of State Medical Boards, costs $16.95 and is available in paperback or ebook form.  Order the book here.

This activity must be completed by December 31, 2014.  To learn more about continuing medical education requirements in Kentucky, vist the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure.
